Dr. Reuven Lexier graduated as with an MD degree from the University of British Columbia in 1979. Subsequently, he then completed an internship in Montreal and also was admitted to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1985. As an Orthopaedic surgeon he is licensed to practice general medicine in the provinces of Ontario & Quebec.

The purpose of this is to reduce joint pain, increase joint range of motion, decrease joint swelling and improves function such as ability to stand and walk (95% success rate).

The notice below applies to patients of Dr. Lexier who received knee or shoulder treatment between January 8, 2013 and March 1 2023.

Around March 2023 Dr. Lexier was involved with a colleague to create a new entity, the Orthopaedic Injection Clinic of Toronto (OICT), which would provide treatment options to patients with knee or shoulder arthritis, and assess the effectiveness of these treatment by way of a retrospective study to improve patient care and outcomes. In order to identify patients who may benefit from the services of OICT including being included in this study, Dr. Lexier’s office shared information with his colleague so he could contact Dr. Lexier’s patients. For patients whom received knee or shoulder treatment between January 8, 2013, and March 1, 2023 your name, date of visit with Dr. Lexier, phone number, and OHIP billing diagnostic code, were shared.

In March 2023, we were alerted by a former patient of a concern regarding this disclosure. We have since come to understand that your personal health information should not have been used in this way. We are therefore providing you within notice. Please accept our sincere apology.

Please be assured that your information has been returned, deleted from any electronic files, and it has not been shared or copied. We have also taken steps to insure an issue like this does not occur in the future, including by Dr. Lexier undertaking privacy training. You are entitled to make a complaint to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario. However, Dr. Lexier is also contacting the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario to notify them of this incident and will work with them to ensure that all their obligations have been fulfilled.
